- Opposition Agriculture Critic Colin LaVie and Agriculture and Forestry Minister George Webster debate whether government should provide additional financial support to a crop insurance program that offers producers coverage for wireworm damage. In response to LaVie's comments about programs in place in other locations, Webster notes that fumigants being used in the US to battle the problem are not approved for use in Canada and that a Canadian solution to controlling the pest will probably be found through use of biocrops.

- Environment Minister Janice Sherry says that no decision has been made on the wells and "the moratorium will not be removed unless and until we are absolutely certain that more irrigation wells will not affect the quality or quantity of our water resources. The decision will be based on the best scientific evidence we have."
