- New app enables farmers to share input prices
- The Farmers of North America Strategic Agriculture Institute, a not-for-profit informational research organization, has launched an application, AgPriceBook, free of charge to all farmers through Apple or Google Play app stores. The app gives farmers the opportunity to post quoted or paid prices for specific input products, and they may view price postings for a 100 km distance from a selected centre-point location to see how prices posted for that location compare to those being quoted or paid in other locations. The app user postings are anonymous to prevent the identification of farmers who post prices, and the posted prices are not identifiable by specific retailers. Using near real-time numbers, the data will provide the most reliable tracking of farm input prices and help farmers improve their cost-competitiveness.
