- The vice-chair of the PEI Potato Board is very grateful for the support from the government. George Webster, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, announced the provincial government would add $10,000 to the $50,000 already established by the industry for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for inserting needles into potatoes at Linkletter Farms., ***unscanned

- Province allocates money for hog biosecurity program
- Agriculture and Forestry Minister George Webster announces that the provincial government has enacted a $115,00 biosecurity protocol following the discovery of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea on an Island farm. The protocol helps producers with the cost of disinfecting equipment and trucks. The agriculture minister states that all equipment and clothing worn while in contact with the animals must be disinfected and recommends that hog producers wash and dry the wheels of their vehicles after any travel between their farm and the farms of other hog producers or between their farm and any processing plants.
