- Dickeya latest threat to health of potato crop
- Describes a potato seminar held by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries where farmers were briefed on the spread of Dickeya blackleg, a serious potato disease that has been found in Europe, the United States, and Ontario. Although the disease has not been found in PEI , general manager of the PEI Potato Board, Greg Donald, and former Canadian Food Inspection Agency scientist, Dr. Solke deBoer, urged farmers to maintain proper sanitation protocols to help prevent the spread of the bacteria to the Island.
