Abstract

Gives an overview of the poultry processing industry in the Maritimes. Describes how PEI does not currently have a federally inspected poultry plant, requiring Island producers to ship much of their stock off Island to be processed (a federally inspected facility is required if the meat is being exported to another province). Also discusses Waddell's Inc. in Crapaud PEI, the only provincially inspected poultry plant on the Island.
