PEI beef producers await details of national beef strategy

Abstract

The national beef strategy has set four ambitious goals--a 15 per cent increase in demand within the next five years; a seven per cent decrease in costs to make Canadian beef more competitive in the marketplace; a 15 per cent production increase to help fill the new demand it hopes will be created and increasing the lines of communication with consumers, governments and partner industries. More work needs to be done before the actual impact will be determined at the farm level.
