Big blue finds a home

Abstract

The history of a blue whale that washed up on the western shore of the Island, on the Phee Shore at Norway, on November 12, 1987. Bob Bowman of the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbour, Maine and Dr. Pierre-Yves Daoust of the Atlantic Veterinary College both took samples, then the burial was left to Gerard Gallant of Northern Enterprises, a construction company. Excavation of "Big Blue" took place almost 20 years later.
