[byline column] ; Ellen MacPhail, Executive Director, PEI Women's Institute. The recent PEI Women's Institute Convention included a Drug Panel and presentation of awards. Among the awards presented were the Adelaide Hoodless Pendant for outstanding contributions in service for Women's Institute to Mrs. Eileen Drake, Meadowbank W.I. The winners from the 41st WI Island Cleanup held on May 10 were presented. Kaye Larkin, WI Convener for Environment thanked all the participants. A cheque for $15,306.47 was presented to Adam Balderston, Chair of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation. Bethany Saunders of Charlottetown was the recipient of the International Peace Garden Scholarship. The PEI Women's Institute is now accepting applications for the annual Premier's Craft Education Award for exhibitors at the OLd Home Week Handcrafts, Horticulture and Arts Competition. It has been presented annually since 2006 but the criteria has been expanded for exhibitions at Old Home Week or any other Exhibition fair or festival on PEI for the past two years. The bursary of $3,000 can be used toward one major training event or two short courses. within 2 years of presentation.
