Abstract

Stratford-Kinlock MLA James Alyward questioned whether the Canadian Rivers Institute research being done on deep water wells for the Department of Environment has been influenced by government officials. Alyward tabled emails between Department of Environment staff and officials at the Institute, which Alyward suggested demonstrated government interference in the presentation given by Canadian Rivers Institute representatives at a meeting organized by the PEI Watershed Alliance. Minister Janice Sherry denied Alyward's claims and maintained that no decision had yet been reached by her department on the issue of high capacity wells.
