Abstract

In former Conservative cabinet minister Horace Carver's review of the Lands Protection Act, Carver warned of a need to tighten legislation to ensure that large tracts of land can not be bought for development purposes. Ghiz responded to a question from Independent Morell-Mermaid MLA Olive Crane's question about ownership rules in the province by recognizing that some loopholes exist, but he stated that the provincial legal team is working to tighten the current legislation to prevent future land grabs.
