Abstract

2014 International Year of Family Farming (IYFF)--Prince Edward Island Family Farm [one-off column] The IYFF seeks to raise public awareness of the role that smallholder farming plays in achieving sustainable development, by profiling family farms and smallholder farmers. This year Van Kampen's Greenhouses in Charlottetown was chosen for one of the agency's profiles. Established in 1959 by G.H. Van Kampen, Van Kampen's Greenhouses is now operated by his sons Bill and Charlie. In 1963 they added tomatoes to their garden centre business, selling them onsite and throughout the Maritimes. {Photo]
