Abstract
The Agriculture and AgriFood Canada Research Centre in Indian Head, Saskatchewan is leading a project that is exploring whether buffaloberry, which is a common wild berry from Saskatchewan, can be commercially grown for possible medicinal or health benefits. Jason McCallum of the Crop and Livestock Research Centre in Charlottetown is the lead scientist on the Island portion of this research project. McCallum states that the project is scheduled to run until 2018 and that over 30 varieties of plants and trees are being investigated for possible commercial use.
