Abstract
Salute to Agriculture [special supplement] Coordinator Lucia Stephen provides details about The Grow a Farmer Apprenticeship and Mentorship Program, run by the Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network (ACORN). The goals of the Grow a Farmer program are to share knowledge and build a community through a mentoring and apprenticeship program that pairs aspiring farmers with experienced ones, and to help develop a succession plan for new farmers to enter the field as older farmers retire. In addition to its mentoring program, Grow a Farmer also hold events like the Beginner Farmer Synposium, which addresses major issues that aspiring farmers face, such as land access, farm business plans, marketing and technical aspects of farming.
