Potato washing company receives financial help to purchase equipment

Abstract

RWL Holdings Inc. of Traveller's Rest receives $569,000 in federal and provincial funding to purchase equipment for a high-speed potato wash facility. The new optical-sensing sorting equipment allows for sorting my size and type on a just-in-time basis, allowing more efficiency when sorting loads of potatoes for large-scale processors like McCain's and Cavendish Farms ACOA's Business Development Program contributed $500,000 and The PEI Department of Agriculture and Forestry's Growing Forward 2 Program has contributed $69,000. Co-owner Austin Roberts said it would increase returns for Island growers
