Abstract
The Tourism Industry Association of PEI (TIAPEI) held its first Culinary Job Fair in Charlottetown recently and over one dozen employers attended the event. They were specifically looking for kitchen workers such as sous chefs, line cooks, prep cooks and dishwashers. Andrea Boehner of TIAPEI talked about the Culinary Job Fair as a way to address the consistent turnover in these jobs. A few employers talked about how to stand out in the hiring process. JoAnn and Joey Gauthier, Owner/Operators of Joey's Deep Sea Fishing and Jo Joe's Seafood Eatery in Rusticoville spoke about finding it hard to find cooks for a short season. John Pritchard from Terre Rouge said he is looking for cooks, dishwashers, and front-of-house staff. Bruce and Shirley MacNaughton apply the motto "Everything in Good Taste" to apply to both their products and services of the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company, New Glasgow
