Medavie EMS operates support facilities for Island EMS, PEI's ambulance service that provides emergency medical and healthcare response; Medavie's subsidiary Medacom Atlantic answers all PEI 911 calls and responds to requests to dispatch ambulances; training for Communications Officers to fulfil this role is provided by Island First Aid Service; the two-week training course will be offered twice a year and is limited to six people per session; students get hands-on experience dispatching in a simulated scenario and work with the mapping system used in ambulances
