Abstract

The Duke of Edinburgh Awards is an international awards program that challenges youth 14-25 years of age in three areas (volunteerism, skill development and recreation); aboriginal youth completing the PEI program may be awarded bronze and silver medals by the Lieutenant Governor of PEI, with a representative of the Queen awarding the final gold medal at a location in the Maritimes; the PEI Aboriginal Duke of Edinburgh Program was originally introduced through the Mawita'jik Program of the Aboriginal Women's Association
