Abstract

Article describes the program and work of the Mi'Kmaq Family Resource Center, which is sponsored by the Aboriginal Women's Association of PEI and funded through the Public Health Agency of Canada. Current programs include : New Spirits Support Group for pre- and post-natal mothers; "Welcome Baby Baskets;" parental and parenting skills support services; Community Kitchen that allows parents to prepare a meal to take home; children's programming; Drop In & Play; Mother's Tent at Powwows; Wekatesk Aboriginal Head Start; women's craft groups; special learning groups; and Mi'Kmaq Tea, a community lunch social
