abstract: This Standing Committee report examines human trafficking in Canada. It provides
background on the problem and describes how Canada has tried to combat trafficking with
an interdepartmental working group, awareness-raising efforts, and legislative measures.
The committee offers 33 recommendations in the areas of prevention, including
recommendations related to poverty, gender inequality, age of consent, and inequalities
from Canada?s immigration policy; protection, including improved law enforcement
training and victim services; and prosecution, including judicial training.
