The 1997 Canada Pension Plan changes : implications for women and men
Description
abstract: In this policy research document from Status of Women Canada, Adil Sayeed investigates
the effects of recent changes to the Canada Pension Plan on women. Women will receive an
overall reduction in benefits because of the changes to surviving spouses benefits.
Because women are more often the surviving spouse, they depend on this form of benefit
more than men do. The author concludes that future CPP reviews should include a gender
analysis.
