A project to promote implementation of the National Building Code and a standardized building permit in Prince Edward Island
Description
abstract: This 21 page report outlines an educational campaign in Prince Edward Island designed to
encourage P.E.I. home builders to construct housing in accordance with the National
Building Code. Following the Code has a number of advantages. Homes built to code tend
to require fewer repairs lowering occupancy costs over the operational life of the
dwelling. In addition, a uniform permit application form for all of P.E.I. was favoured
as a way to help lower costs to builders and in turn, lower housing costs in
general.
